All You Need To Know About Moving
I work for a medium-sized company that specializes in international supply chain management. We partner with many different companies around the world and help them figure out ways in which they can improve upon their current operations with production, packaging, and supply chain management. I have worked in this business for many years and have worked with a very wide range of companies and businesses across the globe. We’ve seen it all in terms of mistakes, changes, adaptations, and transitions that different companies have made in regards to packing and shipping, production, and supply chain management.
From a young age, I’ve always been taught that it’s important to have a side hustle or something that you can use to make money on the side. They say that extremely wealthy people have at least 7 different sources of income. With the craziness surrounding the pandemic, I have found my current side hustle for the time being. I started off by making face masks for family and friends as gifts, especially when the pandemic first became an issue. Many people had a hard time getting their hands on affordable face masks due to shortages. However, I began to sell these masks online in my local community through Facebook marketplace and eBay as a way of making a little extra income on the side.
My background as a supply chain specialist has helped me in lots of ways as I have worked to find my niche market with my facemasks. A big problem that arose during my early days producing and selling face masks was having enough supply on hand in order to fulfill all the orders that were coming in. With the shortage of face masks on an almost global scale, you can imagine that I had a lot of orders coming in on a daily basis. I began to hire some of my close friends that were willing to help me produce these masks. The process of making them is not very hard or complicated, it just takes a little bit of knowledge with fabric and sewing machines. Some of my friends who were willing to help were already familiar and competent in these ways, so it was very much a welcome help to my production process.
Another problem arose when I started to sell my masks on a more national level. I needed to quickly and efficiently obtain packaging and shipping supplies; packages, adhesive, poly bags, and other sorts of materials were in high demand at the time, so it was hard to obtain some of these items on a regular basis. Shipping my face masks was relatively easy with UPS, and it did not add a whole lot of extra cost to my production and shipping costs. I only added a small fee with each purchase for shipping if it was an out-of-state order.
Overall, my side hustle has been quite successful during the pandemic. Things have gone well with shipping, and I don’t see a lot of complaints about lost or damaged items. I made sure to look up some of the highest quality poly bags I could find. Things have slowed down a bit due to the pandemic becoming more managed and with a very saturated market for facemasks. However, I am glad to have found a side hustle that can really produce a lot of revenue.
Did you know that you can use edible packaging for more than just carry out items? While edible packaging is commonly used for takeout companies and the like, it’s become popular for food and beverage products with a price tag.
It’s fun because you can make them easy to eat, and also taste good too. In this, we’ll go over the edible packaging options, and how, through utilizing these gourmet shipping materials, you can make it even more special for people.
Edible packaging is a simple process. It involves using materials made from seaweed, rice paper, or even sugar-based films. It makes it safe and easy to consume, especially now when paired with the appropriate foods.
A lot of takeout food uses this, however, some higher-end manufacturers are also looking into using this kind of packaging.
Gourmet meal kits are one example. These are meal kits, with some high-end materials and other unique options. This is something lots of companies are beginning to enjoy as well, simply because it’s easy for you to make it disposable, and a lot of high-end customers will pay more for this.
The other is luxury chocolates. Stand out from others by offering edible packaging and sustainable products. It’s great, because lots of companies can add this to their packaging repertoire and really make this shine.
Then of course, there are luxury items that benefit from edible or disposable packaging. Teas for instance will use edible sachets, or water-soluble sachets, allowing for a sustainable experience when enjoying your favorite teas.
There’s a lot of benefits to going edible with your packaging. Some brands have already started to use this.
The biggest one is that it reduces waste like crazy. you aren’t’ spending a ton of money just for the items to be tossed away. instead, you’re leaving far less of a carbon footprint, and in turn, allow you to have a safe and effective experience.
It also adds a unique selling point to this. a lot of times, when you’re trying to sell to customers, using the edge of sustainable packaging works well. Some people like it a lot more because it means that they can, as well, offer a fun and exciting experience for those involved.
Finally, it aligns with the trends for sustainability. Being sustainable is great, because it means that you’re able to give people eco-friendly incentives. The proper alignment of this really adds to the effect, and makes it possible for you to improve and enhance your experience as well.
While it is great to have edible packaging, it does come with challenges.
The biggest one is durability. You want it to be strong but also zero-waste. You want it to hold the items without bogging them down.
Another challenge is spoilage. The last thing you need is for these items to spoil. You can get something that fits the item, and also have the expiration date. Some companies have started to mass produce these items, offering scalability for such.
The final challenge is taste. If it isn’t palatable to the people who are buying this, then they’re not going to buy it. so, in order to offset such, you want to make sure that the packaging fits the needs of your customers, however that might be.
Edible packaging is a fun, future innovation, worth looking at if you’re a gourmet shipper. Consider this option, and see for yourself the benefits of incorporating this type of packaging. Some customers will cover it, and many might even flock to your business.
